AN/AIC-27(V) (XA-2) Aircraft Interphone System.
Abstract:
The ANAIC-27V is a versatile and flexible interphone system for aircraft, employing a central control, or switchboard concept. It introduces multiplexing of the crew station control signals onto a single pair of wires. These signals establish all transmit and receive interconnections. Therefore, it drastically reduces the number of wires in the crew station-to-central control unit cables and the number of pins in the connectors terminating the cables. The additional circuitry needed to perform the multiplexing function adds negligibly to the weight and dimensions of the systems units. The primary objective of this second experimental development model, designated ANAIC-27V XA-2, was to demonstrate an extremely low crosstalk between its many channels. The design goal was 100 dB of isolation. This new interphone provides several interlocked transmit modes, a CALL mode override that permits emergency operation in the event of partial system failure, REDBLACK channel interlocks, and many other useful features.
