Mechanical Properties of Highly Filled Elastomers in Relation to Shape and Nature of Filler Particles

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0900454 | Need Help?

Abstract:

The model substances of polyurethane rubber filled with sodium chloride were investigated for thermo-mechanical properties at small deformations and for rupture properties. General rules for the prediction of mechanical properties of composite materials from such given filler characteristics as content, particle size or size distribution, shape, etc., are given. Results are insufficient for a quantitative prediction of the strength of the propellants from their composition. They should be able to serve as a guide in the search for the composition of a propellant with optimum strength.
