Abstract:

This Technical Summary contains a general description of an automated data processing system to be employed in support of tactical army commands. It describes a concept of system operations, hardware configurations, nonfunctional computer software, communications operating personnel requirements, system security, and functional support of tactical commanders and their staffs. This summary and its supporting annexes are the basic system specifications for the Tactical Operations System TOS scheduled to be issued to tactical units in the 1975-1980 time frame. This summary is expanded in more technical detail in Annex A. Annexes B through M describe, in detail, the applications which will be applied to the TOS. Author
