Automated Satellite Terminal Control. Volume 3.
Abstract:
The investigation addressed control system parameters which could be varied to improve the communication systems performance, primarily by increasing the number of simulataneous users the satellite could accommodate. Based on data resulting from computer simulations, an upper bound of performance for open loop, closed-loop and central control was determined. Central control is shown to provide the maximum level of performance but because of its operational requirements, implementation is not practical. The results of the computer simulations are presented in the report in a series of tables which compare the capabilities provided by the candidate control schemes. Discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of each control scheme, along with recommendations for the optimum control under various satellite loading conditions, are also presented. Author
