Abstract:

The report presents a description of the implementation and testing of a 4800 and 9600 bit per second data modem developed around an encoding technique called Digital Modulation. Sections 1 through 4 describe the implementation and testing of the modem and manual equalizer, and Sections 5 through 8 describe the implementation and testing of the modem and adaptive equalizer. Provided in this report are theoretical discussions of the Digital Modulation technique and the Adaptive Equalizer, data on phase jitter, Gaussian noise tests, and telephone line tests. Author
