Abstract:

The report is concerned with the development of an on-line information storage and retrieval system for the Rome Air Development Center. It is deeply concerned with automatic document classification, interactive retrieval and the problems peculiar to the automated processsing of large document collections. In the light of the requirements to be met, a report on existing applicable techniques is made. This is followed by a description of other methods, developed specifically for this project. Finally, the system design is presented to a detailed level.
