Interfacial Interaction in Composite Structures.
Abstract:
The Scanning Electron Microscope was used to examine fracture surfaces of epoxide bonded systems. Both static fatigue and load to failure specimens were investigated. The former were studied for the effect of liquid water, in the presence of applied stress, which provided interfacial failure at loads well below those needed in the load to failure studies. The latter specimens were studied to determine the fracture process. It was apparent that plastic flow resulted during failure of a continuously loaded fracture specimen. Author
