Abstract:

The M557E1 Fuze is a modification of the standard M557, PD, Fuze. It was developed to eliminate premature functioning of the fuze during heavy rain. Objectives of the evaluation were threefold determine if the M557E1 is rain sensitive, determine if the modified fuze provides an increased capability for jungle canopy penetration, and determine if the fuze functions properly in the superquick mode.
