EVALUATION OF POKE WELDER TENSILE SPECIMENS,

Portable resistance welders would greatly facilitate the method in which a product is manufactured or assembled. The ease, with which this equipment can be handled and operated is similar to that of various types of pneumatic shot welders. Resistance welding is complicated by such variables as time, current, and pressure, which must be closely controlled at all times. It is, therefore, of interest to determine, whether or not these variables have been influenced or sacrificed because of the added feature of portability. The object was to determine and record the shearing load, mode of failure, percentage of penetration, and nugget diameter of Poke Welder shear specimens. Author
