Abstract:

The article is the first part of the text of the authors lecture delivered at the meeting on High-Vacuum Physics and Technology, held in Dresden between April 26 and 29, 1965. The following subjects were discussed vapor deposition in vacuo, measuring the thickness of vapor-deposited layers, vacuum pumps on a diffusion basis, vapor barriers, cold traps, mechanical vacuum pumps, oil diffusion pumps, absorption pumps, cryogenic pumps, and ion getter pumps. The latest achievements and trends for future development in these subjects were reviewed in a general manner to be continued. Original article has 14 figures. English translation Author
