Abstract:

A formula for easy calculation of the velocity of sound in the ocean is presented. It has been developed to approach within 0.1 ms of the values given by Wilsons second formula for most ocean cases. It uses depth instead of pressure as a parameter and is simple enough for the calculation to be made by hand. Author
