Abstract:

This report covers an evaluation of the Dynalens Model S-023 zoom binocular system with gyro-stabilized image motion compensation. The evaluation was conducted under combat conditions by the Army Concept Team in Vietnam. It is concluded that the Dynalens optical head does in fact provide angular image stabilization for optical magnification devices used from vibrating platforms and is suitable for operational use in most Army aircraft. Minor electrical, optical, and mechanical modifications are recommended. Author
