reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0827219 | Need Help?

Abstract:

This volume is made up of four independent studies of topics important to the line broadening field. In the first study, the quantum impact theory as applied to molecular Stark broadening is considered a method for molecular polarizability estimation is developed and the unimportance of anisotropy demonstrated. In the second study, the combined effects of Van der Waals and Stark broadening are computed for the principal air systems, atomic Van der Waals effects being here included. In the third study, various facets of molecular interactions, considered in the earlier report, are extended and analyzed. In the last section, the phenomenon of such importance to intermolecular forces and broadening theory, Q-branch induction, is considered in some detail. Author
