Abstract:

Eight different type rotochutes were evaluated for use with the A-size Sanders ANSSO-53XN-2 DIFAR sonobuoy. Live and dummy sonobuoys equipped with these rotochutes were air launched from P-3A aircraft. Two types of rotochutes were determined to be satisfactory for air launching the sonobuoys at altitudes of 300 feet or 20,000 feet at indicated airspeeds up to 300 knots. Author
