LOGISTICS SYSTEMS DESIGN - AN OPTIMAL CONTROL THEORY MODEL.
Abstract:
This preliminary study is an attempt to develop a model-computational approach which could serve as a broad planning tool for logistics system designers. The principal technique for the creation of the model and the attendant computational procedures has been to use the frame-work of optimal control theory. The theory has been and is being applied today in many problems of industrial process control, electro-mechanical control systems, data filtering, and statistical estimation and testing. The present study is the first attempt to apply optimal control concepts to logistics system design.
