EXPLORATORY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM TO PROVE THE FEASIBILITY OF SOLID-STATE SWITCHING FOR A COMPLEX ELECTRICAL CONTROL NETWORK.
Abstract:
This report describes the work done in a program to investigate, design, develop, and evaluate a solid-state switching concept for the main landing gear position sensing and indicator system for the XC-142A aircraft. Solid-state devices were used to perform circuit protection, power control, switching logic, and position sensing functions which are required in the indicator system. The program was divided into three parts theoretical analysis and laboratory evaluation component development and aircraft modification and flight test. The studies, investigations, and breadboard evaluation necessary to define the requirements for position sensors and indicator drivers are discussed in Section II. A discussion of work done during development of position sensors, indicator drivers and the control logic unit is presented in Section III. The aircraft modification effort and results of the flight test evaluation are discussed in Section IV. Author
