Abstract:
This report is a technical discussion of physical characteristics and performance capabilities of a number of amphibian vehicles. The vehicles selected for discussion are those procured for and used by the Marine Corps. They include 1 the family of armored, assault, personnel carriers, amphibian, 2 the high-speed hydrofoil and planing-hull amphibian vehicles, and 3 the displacement hull rubber-tired amphibian vehicles. Engineering reports published during the period 1956 through 1965 that were concerned with the above vehicles were reviewed. Data from these reports are presented in a form intended to show the development of the vehicles that occurred during the selected time period. Author
