Abstract:

The hybrid image intensifier can be a viable second source for Starlite scope and Crew Served weapon sights. The report covers a power supply design which enables the hybrid tube to perform when used with a 50 caliber machine gun or the 106 recoilless rifle. In addition to providing proper response, stability and regulation, the design incorporates these special design features. 1 An internal MCP voltage adjustment which allows depot maintenance to increase tube gain with resulting increased field life for the system. 2 Automatic Brightness Control adjustment which accommodates variations in tube screen efficiencies and thereby improves system yield as well as optimizes performance. 3 An external gain control is provided. Items 1 and 2 can be performed without depotting tube and power supply. Author
