Measurement of Velocity and Absorption of Ultrasound in Liquid Alkali Metals.
Abstract:
Experimental studies are being made of ultrasonic propagation in liquid alkali metals. Absorption and velocity measurements have been made in potassium, rubidium, and cesium from their melting points to about 250C. One of the aims of this work is to compare the measured absorption values with the predicted classical absorption viscosity and heat conduction losses to determine the extent of any excess absorption.
