An Evaluation of Platinum and Palladium Anodes for Hydrazine Fuel Cells,
Abstract:
An experimental evaluation of the performance of platinum and palladium hydrazine anodes in a working fuel cell was performed. The results show that rapid decreases in the hydrogen evolution rate occur within the first several hundred hours on platinum. It finally approximates the evolution rate on palladium where the hydrogen evolution reaction appears to be stable with time. During the first 30 hours of operation of the cells, the power efficiency on platinum appears to be much lower than the power efficiency of palladium, due to its higher rate of hydrogen loss.
