Titanium-Beryllium Microcomposites, State-of-the-Art Review.
Abstract:
Titanium-beryllium composites have been developed over a broad range of compositions to take advantage of the low density and high modulus of the beryllium while the titanium provides strength and toughness. Standard metalworking methods can be used to prepare these fiber-reinforced composites from powder blends hence the designation, microcomposites and for subsequent processing to finished components. This report reviews the history of the development of these materials and presents data from several sources. Potential applications are indicated. Author
