Acoustic Velocity Correlator.
Abstract:
The doppler velocity correlator is a surface acoustic wave device whose ultimate function is to correct the phases of signals obtained from a pulse burst processor type of multiply tapped surface acoustic wave delay line and to sum these phase corrected signals in a single doppler velocity channel. Because of the need for numerous doppler output channels, the device should and can consist of many input and output channels. The purpose of the program reported here to demonstrate the feasibility of this concept. During this reporting period, prototype 8- and 16-channel velocity correlator networks were fabricated and tested. A major effort was devoted to the development of a photolithographic process which was capable of producing the required transducer arrays. This investigation is presented in detail, followed by a description of the chassis designs used for the prototype networks. Comprehensive time and frequency domain testing of the prototype networks are then presented and the results are evaluated in light of the specified performance. Author
