Ruthenium Oxide Catalysts for the Oxygen Electrode.
Abstract:
The electrochemical properties of ruthenium oxide on Ti and other substrates have been examined using linear sweep voltammetry. The oxygen electrode kinetics have been studied in alkaline solutions on RuOx on Ti using principally the rotating disk technique. O2 reduction involves the formation of peroxide in the solution phase. O2 generation occurs at low overpotentials and the kinetics are characterized by a Tafel slope of 0.040Vdecade and a first order dependence on OH concentration. Mechanisms are proposed to explain the experimental results. Author
