Method for Determining the Thermal Conductivity Coefficient of Metals at High Temperatures,
Abstract:
In this work current-heated wire specimens were used in the determination of the thermal coefficient. The authors measured electrical resistance of the middle section of such a specimen which is essentially a thermometer of resistance. A regular connection between the total length of the wire and electrical resistance of its middle section was seen. The origin of this regularity is connected with the presence of the heat flux along the wire to its ends due to thermal conductivity, which, ultimately, makes it possible to determine the value of the thermal conductivity coefficient.
