Sulfur in the Corrosion of Superalloys.
Abstract:
The diffusion of sulfur in single and polycrystalline oxides of Ni, Co, Al, Cr and Fe has been studied. Sulfur diffuses more rapidly than the host anion and less rapidly than the host cation for the oxides studied. Porosities and grain boundaries increase the migration rate. In the case of nickel oxide it has been inferred that sulfur diffuses by anion vacancies.
