Plasticity Theory of Fibrous Composites - Part II.
Abstract:
This is the second of a three-part study of the plastic deformation of unidirectional fibrous composites made of isotropic, linearly elastic fibers, and an elastic- plastic, non-hardening matrix of the Mises type. The results obtained in the first part for the case of axisymmetric loading of the composite are extended and refined. A new kinematic Hardening Rule II is derived, and an associated flow rule is formulated. An approximate method for the evaluation of the microstresses in the composite is described. The theory is verified by comparison with exact, finite element plasticity solutions for a composite cylinder model of the Be-Al, and B-Al systems. The agreement between the approximate and exact results is very satisfactory. Author-PL
