Low Power Thermal Ionization Ion Sources for the Production of Indium, Barium, and Thallium Ions.
Abstract:
Several small low-power thermal ionization ion sources have been developed for the non-alkali elements indium, barium, and thallium. Power consumption, lifetimes, and ion currents are reported. The sources are of the single-filament design with a charge painted on the surface and the multifilament design with one filament used to vaporize the charge and a second filament used to ionize the vapor. The latter design uses a resistively heated spiral-wound rhenium ribbon in the end of the vapor duct for the ionizer. Modified author abstract
