reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0775479 | Open PDF

Abstract:

The essay discusses the Selected Reserve Force which was formed from Army National Guard and Army Reserve units from across the nation 27 September 1965 and was discontinued 30 September 1969. Most units successfully completed an accelerated training program and achieved a high level of combat readiness in record time but did not maintain the high level of readiness for an extended period of time. The essay recommends a system of training similar to that employed by the Selected Reserve Force to enable Army National Guard units to achieve and maintain an enduring high level of readiness.
