Self-Contained Aircraft Oxygen System. Volume II. Component Design, Development and Environmental Testing.
Abstract:
The self-contained aircraft oxygen system SCAOS contains 19 major components which are not commercially available and which required design, development and evaluation as part of the program. These components are the oxygen concentrator stack, ejector, water reservoir assembly, reaction airwater separator, reaction air solenoid valve latching, oxygen supply solenoid valve, emergency oxygen regulator, breathing control unit, compressor, mask and hose assembly, purge valve, CO2 scrubber, Equilibrator, oxygenwater separator, electronic control unit, airwater heater controller, cockpit controls and instrumentation, pressure switch and loop pressure regulator. Eight of the components indicated by an above were subjected to selected environmental testing. Five of the eight components passed all testing with no problems. Three of the components the water reservoir, oxygen supply solenoid valve and the compressor required design modifications which resulted in subsequent successful test completion.
