reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0772279 | Need Help?

Abstract:

The geoid for the territory of Australia was obtained according to the New Australian gravity survey. The influence of the remote areas was calculated by using satellite data. The anomalies in the areas without gravity measurements were obtained by successive interpolation with allowance for the relation of anomalies to heights. Comparison with Mathers and Fishers derivations leads to errors on the order of plus or minus two m for the interior zones provided with surveys, and on the order of plus or minus four for the whole continent. A derivation of the orientation elements of the Australian ellipsoid was made. In conclusion, the primary necessity is pointed out for the gravimetric investigation of the South Sea. Author
