The Punch Charge.
Abstract:
The punch charge is a novel metal-explosive configuration used to produce relatively large-diameter holes through steel target plates. The report treats several design configurations and describes the corresponding target response patterns in steel plates for a thickness range of 34 to 2 inches based on macrostructural studies and high-speed photographic analysis. Design parameters such as case thickness and explosive geometry are discussed relative to target hole size, mass of target metal removed, and target plug velocities. Author
