A Program for a Management Support System.
Abstract:
The critical and most difficult challenge of management is to recognize a new area requiring attention, to explore and define the area of concern, and to set the goals and conditions that a plan must fulfill A Need exists for systems that will help a high-level manager discover new opportunities and recognize new problems. An information system to serve management in this conceptual and exploratory phase should have characteristics quite different from those of most existing systems. Among the required characteristics are Rapid response truncated response inferential response goal-oriented interaction experimentally modified response. The report discusses the requirements, outlines the technique that are available for the critical functions involved, and identifies broad design concepts for the design of management support systems.
