The Physical and Structural Properties of Liquid Crystals and Their Potential as Detectors.
Abstract:
This final report records the results of research by an interdisciplinary group of chemists and physicists who studied the structural, chemical and physical properties of liquid crystals. Areas of research explored under the contract include Mossbauer effect, x-ray diffraction, nuclear magnetic resonance, electron spin resonance, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, ultrasonics, thermodynamic measurements, light scattering, and liquid crystals as reaction media. A synthetic program for preparation and purification of known compounds and the preparation of new ones was maintained. Modified author abstract
