Tunable CW Dye Lasers.
Abstract:
The report describes the single-frequency output of the dye laser and a description is given of a spectroscopic method for measurement of the dimer equilibrium constant in Rhodamine-detergemt solutions. A rough comparison of Rhodamine 6G and a new dye of the Rhodamine family and effects encountered in ethanolic solution is discussed and the application of the laser to line-narrowing experiments on Nd in glass and POCl3 is described. A general treatment of the molecular anisotropy effects as they may influence the working of a dye laser is presented. An Appendix by R. Walters describes the synthesis of a xanthene dye used for comparison with Rhodamine 6G. Modified author abstract
