An Application of Model Output Statistics to the Prediction of Ceiling and Visibility.
Abstract:
In the report, the Model Output Statistics MOS approach is used to develop prediction equations for ceiling and visibility. MOS consists of determining a statistical relationship between a predictand and the forecast output of numerical prediction models. The statistical relationship was determined by screening regression. The two numerical models used were the National Meteorological Centers primitive equation model and the Techniques Development Laboratorys Subsynoptic Advection Model. Modified author abstract
