Luminescent Defects in Compound Semiconductors.
Abstract:
The research described herein contributes to the understanding of the electronic states, electronic transport and radiative transitions of pure and doped single crystals of compound semiconductors, particularly of II-VI luminescent semiconductors. Both homogeneous single crystals and materials with graded composition are investigated. A combination of experimental and theoretical methods are used. Among the results of these investigations are a an advance in the understanding of donor-acceptor pairs and of higher associates b predictions and observations of phenomena unique to luminescent semiconductors with monotonically graded composition and c analyses of the electrical and optical properties f amorphous materials which have graded globular inhomogeneities in structure or composition.
