Abstract:

It is suggested that the thermal regime of an electrode in the form of a rod can be calculated with the following assumpition the energy from the arc is destributed uniformly over the contact surface the temperature in each cross-section is constant, i.e., the homogeneous equation of thermal conductivity is examined. Presented are the results of calculations for a d.c. arc. It examines the possibility of applying these results to a powerful arc of industrial frequency current.
