The Military Intelligence Branch - Do We Need It.

The essay addresses the question of the necessity of the Armys Military Intelligence Branch. Data was compiled using a literature search and personal interviews held with Reserve and Regular Army members of the Branch. The research revealed the lack of a competent worldwide United States intelligence organization prior to World War II, as well as the Armys meager interest in military intelligence. The Armys post World War II increased national security mission required and continues to require a large number of professionally trained intelligence personnel. The Military Intelligence Branch, established in 1962, should be retained as the best vehicle available to fulfill the Armys personnel requirements in this critical area. Author
