Abstract:

Hydrocyanic or prussic acid is commonly used in disinfectants and raticides and is fatal to man in sufficiently large doses. Its toxic action stops the oxygen-exchange mechanism in living tissue. Sodium thiosulfate is the most common antidote. Oxygen should also be given, as well as a cardiac stimulant. Author
