Abstract:

The research described resulted in the development of two disposable zinc-air, non-reserve batteries. The BA-558U is a 2-pound, 14 volt, 15 ampere-hour unit. The BA-559AU is a 3.3 pound, 24 volt, 15 ampere-hour unit. Performance and mechanical tests as delineated in Electronics Command Development Description El-CD2078-0001A 7 July 1969 for BA-558U and Proposed Performance Specification, 23 August 1972 for BA-559AU were accomplished and all criteria were exceeded. The report contains the individual test results and the details of the construction of the batteries. Author Modified Abstract
