Oscillating Bodies in Supersonic Flow.
Abstract:
Three shapes - a cone, a wedge, and a flat plate - were oscillated at various frequencies up to 16 cycles per second in a Mach 2.8 flow to determine the extent of the validity of the quasi-study flow assumption. Instantaneous static pressure measurements and schlieren high speed movies were made and analyzed. The frequency was found where the measured pressures started a linear deviation from quasi-steady flow. The absolute pressure being measured, the amplitude, and the transverse velocity of the static pressure port were additional variables. Author Modified Abstract
