reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0755729 | Open PDF

Abstract:

The report briefly summarizes research on work concerned with the preparation of oxidation films on metals under various pO2, pH2O, and temperature conditions and the characterization of these films. The thrust of the research was to seek out conditions which would lead to the formation of corrosion resistant oxide or hydroxide films. The metals considered for study was narrowed down to aluminum and iron, along with titanium, nickel and chromium. The principal method for characterization of the corrosion films are soft x-ray spectroscopy, and x-ray diffraction.
