Radioactive Thorium in Glass Lenses of Starlight Scopes.

Quantitative measurements indicated that the dose which would be deposited within the human eye by some lenses can exceed maximum permissible levels. Methods to reduce the dose below these levels are suggested. Pertinent background material on radiation protection regulations, radioactive equilibrium, and ophthalmology is included for reference.
