In February 1970, a general meeting of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR was held, devoted to the role of science in technical progress. In speaking of principal trends of development in modern science, the president of the Academy of Sciences, academician M. V. Keldysh mentioned the importance of work in the field of autonomous energetics. A member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, N. S.
