Fricke Dosimeter Behavior with and without Sodium Chloride and at Doses Above 40 Kilorads.

An extension of the upper limit for radiation doses measured with the standard Fricke dosimeter system was observed in measurements performed at 25C. The study included doses as high as 75 to 80 krad. No significant difference in response could be detected between the solution containing sodium chloride and otherwise identical solutions without sodium chloride, for exposures to 60Co gamma radiation at 1000 radmin. and to 6 Mev electrons produced by a linear accelerator with intrapulse rates on the order of 10 to the 7th power radsec.
