Suspension of Solid Lubricants (Molybdenum-Disulphide) as a Cutting Fluid in Metalworking Operations,
Abstract:
The process of metalworking by cutting is a complicated technological system consisting of different elements in which the cutting fluid for the lubrication and cooling of the tools is an extremely significant both technological and economic factor. One can influence the reduction of the wear rate in the tools by the lubricant and cooling properties of the cutting fluids. In the extreme conditions of lubrication the application of molybdenum disulfide in the form of suspension in water as a means for lubricating and cooling the tool is theoretically fully justified. Experimentally, the effects of the suspension of molybdenum sulphide has been tested in the milling and sawing processes. Comparative testing has been carried out with the emulsion of cutting oil in water.
