ATC (Air Traffic Control) Surveillance/Communication Analysis and Planning

FAA funded ATC SurveillanceCommunication Analysis and Planning activities during the period 1 June to 31 August 1972 are reported. Surveillance studies bearing upon possible courses of action to improve the performance of the present ATCRBS equipment and to equip present ARSRASR radars with state-of-the-art clutter reduction capability are discussed. An improved surveillance radar concept is formulated, and plans to implement this radar in a demonstration model are described. Communication studies just getting under way are outlined. The concluding section describes two preliminary flight tests performed to validate procedural and data reduction plans for the ATCRBS transponder switched antenna tests.
