Abstract:

The study of discharges through vapors of HgBr2 and HgCl2 has shown the existence of optical gain in the emission from the HgX species. On the contrary, no gain was detected on the copper atomic transitions resulting from discharge decomposition of copper halides. In the area of organic luminophors, efforts were made to obtain a clear indication of single-pass super-radiance on pumping several scintillator compounds in the vapor phase with a mode-locked frequency-doubled ruby laser.
