Methods for Determining the Mass of the Worn Tool Material on the Tool Face,

reportActive / Technical Report | Accession Number: AD0749757 | Need Help?

Abstract:

The most accurate criterion for evaluating cutting tool wear is the volume or mass of worn out tool material. Studies of hard alloy cutting tool wear in machining of gray pig iron showed that a lune of various width and depth is formed on the tool front surface, along the entire length of the main cutting edge, as a result of tool wear. Two methods are proposed for determining the lune volume. Author
