Abstract:

The purpose of the report is to describe the objectives and progress of Rands research program in health care and the biological sciences. The overall aim of this program is to help improve equity, efficiency, and effectiveness in health care delivery. The research falls in the following five subject categories Analysis of health policy issues of broad, general importance Improving the operation of the health services delivery system Improving prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease, with emphasis on physician decisionmaking Studying the physiologic mechanisms of health and disease Developing tools and methods for studying problems of modern society, of which health problems are an example.
